If you were at Thurston in Kindergarten and have a REALLY good memory, you might remember Ms. Erspamer. She was one of my student teachers when you were in Kindergarten. She's been making videos for her elementary students and made two really good ones of how to do the Cup Song. Watch the two videos below and try it! You can do it alone or with a family member. You don't even have to use cups. Other objects that you can hold onto work too. Let me know if you were able to do it!

Here are two videos of Fortnite Dances on recorder. The first one is someone playing in three different parts. Maybe you can look at his fingers and figure out how to play them. The second is a tutorial on how to play the Default Dance.
Here is a video of how to play the Imperial March on your recorder. There are two different pictures of recorders for you to follow along. The "Baroque" recorder fingers have the more complicated version of F. The "German" recorder fingers have the 4-finger version of F. The video takes you through the piece at regular speed and then slows down if you need more time for each note. This one is on the difficult side. It uses notes we haven't learned yet, but it does show you how to finger them. Let me know if you try it and how it went! Hi 4th graders! Here is a video of how to play Baby Shark on your recorder. There are two different pictures of recorders for you to follow along. The "Baroque" recorder fingers have the more complicated version of F. The "German" recorder fingers have the 4-finger version of F. The video takes you through the piece at regular speed and then slows down if you need more time for each note. Did you practice it? How did it go? Are there other songs you'd like me to post on the website? Let me know in the comments! Here is a Music BINGO game created by my friend Jennifer Bailey, another music teacher in Michigan. See how many of these things you can do while at home. Hint: Some of these items can be found on the Videos page right here on Ms. Rothfeld's music website.
For one of our 4th grade/Kindergarten music buddies projects, we took the book, Pete the Cat, Rockin' in his School Shoes, and created our own musical version. We presented it at Heron Huddle on Monday. Here is our final product. They did an amazing job, didn't they? We also had some pretty amazing Huddle leaders. They represented us well! Katy Perry, a famous singer, decides to play the recorder at one of her recent performances. But wait a minute...take a close look at this video. Can you figure out what's wrong before they give it away at the end? The Thurston song is a REALLY hard song to play. Once a student has made it all the way through to the Thurston song and can play it at regular speed, these students now will be able to test other 4th grade students. Here is one student from last year playing the Thurston song. Our silver belt song is Hedwig's theme from Harry Potter. This song uses a few new notes and is not easy to play!
