We will be performing “Treasure Island” on Wednesday, May 13 at 6:00pm. Not all students wanted a speaking part, but everyone will have some part in this performance, whether it is backstage, on stage, speaking, singing, dancing, etc. In terms of costumes, these are merely suggestions. Do not feel these are the only option. Before going shopping for a costume, check with family and friends to see if anyone has something you can borrow. You’d be surprised what people have in their possession!
Also, second hand stores are a great place to get costumes. Here are some good places in Ann Arbor where you may have good luck in finding something.

Pirates
Typical pirate clothes, scarves around their heads, earrings, sailor pants, could have eye patches. Long John Silver could have a wooden leg and maybe a crutch. Pew could have a cane. Billy Bones should be wearing clothes that look old or dirty. Ben, Bill, and Bob Gunn’s clothing should be tattered and worn looking.
Townspeople, Squire Trelawney, Doctor Livesey, Nurse Hunter, Nurse Joyce, Nurse Grace, Mr. Hands, Mrs. Arms, Abraham, Tom, Mrs. Hawkins
Clothes that match their station in life typical of the 1700s. Knicker-style pants, tights, three-corner hats, long sleeved shirts and coats with tails (similar to Revolution era clothing), or a long dress without bright colors, or a skirt with a shawl. Jim, Jamie, Molly, Alex, Sam, and Jane could wear knickers (short pants), tights and long-sleeved shirts (or a dress, skirt, and/or shawl). The Narrators since they are telling the story, but as if they were there too, could wear similar clothing. Captain Smollett, Abraham, Mr. Hands, Mrs. Hands, Abraham, and Tom could wear what is described above, or a sailor’s uniform. The Captain could wear a gold braid to show his rank. Alan, O’Brien, Anderson, and Grey could be wearing sailor outfits but with something on that looks like a pirate (such an eye patch, or scarves around their heads, etc).
Pigaloos
Grass skirts, or sarong-type outfits, and/or leis of flowers, flowered shirts, etc.
Backstage Parts
Music Directors, Curtain Directors, Props Directors, and Ushers: If you don’t already have a speaking part, wear all black. Otherwise your character’s costume (above) is fine.
