Here's a great rhyming song. If your family members don't know it, teach it to them. You can be the leader, they can echo you. Once you go through the verses below, see how many new ones you can create. You could even draw pictures of your rhymes and then sing them. What are some create rhymes you can think of? Let me know in the comments.
In 3rd grade one of the folk dances we did this year was called Sashay the Donut. We had to be careful in the music room to be aware of our surroundings. A sashay is like a sideways gallop, and the students thought that the reason it was Sashay the Donut was because with the two circles that we make in the dance, it looks like a donut. Try this dance at home. Even though you don't have a full class to do it, see if you can adjust to make it work. Was it harder to do with less people? Did you have enough room to sashay? Did you try it inside your house or outside? Let me know how it goes in the comment section! Here is a Music BINGO game created by my friend Jennifer Bailey, another music teacher in Michigan. See how many of these things you can do while at home. Hint: Some of these items can be found on the Videos page right here on Ms. Rothfeld's music website.
